Six Mile Creek was named by early prospectors who determined it was six miles up Turnagain Arm from Cook Inlet. Gold was discovered in Six Mile Creek in 1895.
Six Mile Creek is in the Chugach National forest near Hope Alaska. This is one of the most exciting rivers to raft in Alaska and only an hour and a half south of Anchorage!
iSix Mile Creek flows through a broad glacial valley with numerous gravel bars and some bedrock exposures.
Six Mile Creek has three canyons with narrow routes, thrilling rapids, beautiful pools and rock canyons dressed in lush vegetation, and it’s been considered for National Wild and Scenic River designation.
