Sponsored by The Coastal Jazz Association and the City of Savannah, The Savannah Jazz Festival is held during the last full week of September since 1983. The majority of the festival is held at Forsyth Park at the intersection of Bull Street and East Park Avenue and at Blowin' Smoke Restaurant and Club (514 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard) with other locations around the city hosting various related events throughout the week.
In addition to outstanding jazz performers in both jam sessions (the first scheduled event which opens the festival this year) and scheduled sets throughout the festival, The Savannah Jazz Festival also features jazz related arts and crafts, local commercial merchant booths and a selection of concessions. While performers vary each year the event has hosted both blues and jazz legends Maynard Ferguson, Ben Riley, Lionel Hampton, Carmen McCray, and a host of other talented acts over the course of several decades.
Boasting national and regional performers the annual event is one of the most widely recognized in the country, and for good reason, all events of the week long Savannah Jazz Festival are absolutely free and open to the public. So enjoy a week long celebration of all things jazz in the open air this September!
