Part of the network of Telfair Museums, the Jepson Center for the Arts, is the newest addition to the Telfair Museums, the oldest art museum open to the public in the southern United States. Opened in 2006, the Jepson Center is a home to showcase contemporary art of today, linking the rich history of the family of museum's past to its present day and serving as an inspiration to the artists of tomorrow.
The Jepson Center is home to a 7,500 square foot gallery, auditorium with seating for over 200, and educational studio space. The gallery provides an outlet for both the Jepson Center's permanent collection of art as well as museum-network traveling exhibits. Perhaps the most unique feature about the Jepson Center is ArtZeum, an interactive art gallery for the smallest of art critics, marketed specifically for children and their families. ArtZeum, a 3,500 interactive space is the only one of its kind in the city, the only hands on museum for children in Savannah.
The Jepson Center is open year-round, save for several holidays, and is open daily, Sunday-Monday from 12-5pm, Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday from 10am-5pm, and Thursday from 10am-8pm. Those who are museum members are admitted free and general admission for non-members as well as information on group pricing is available by calling 912-790-8800. Celebrate the best in modern art by visiting SavannahÕs own Jepson Center for the Arts at 207 West York Street!
