Bunnell Street Gallery
Bunnell Street Gallery is a one of a kind glimpse into the soul of the community of Homer, Alaska. This unique non-profit gallery provides visitors with the opportunity to view artistic pieces that are designed with the core Alaskan personality traits of creativity, individualism, resilience, and independence.
Originally formed by Joni Whitmore and a small group of local artists in 1989, the goal of the gallery was to provide a place where artistic ability could be expressed and appreciated. After strong community support and dedication it has developed into what it is today. Each exhibit featured runs for one month, and there is a great appreciation for all forms of art. Pieces are featured from sculptures and paintings, to concerts and poetry readings.
The mission of the gallery is to encourage productivity and bravery so local artists share their work with the rest of the community and visitors alike. In addition, the gallery aspires to portray the rich artistic ability of the community to guests, and inspire the artist within everyone to thrive.
