Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation 5556 US Highway 17 North Brunswick, GA 31525 Phone: (912) 264-7333 Website: http://www.gastateparks.org
The Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation lies in the wet lowlands of far eastern Georgia in the southern section of the state. It is actually being used as a commercial residential area right now. In fact it is a large area that has plenty of resorts, hotels and gold courses. Despite this the former plantation has a long history dating back to vintage America, the civil war early America, Spanish America, and finally prehistoric America.
Something that anyone should know about this plantation if they are interesting in going is the fact that the plantation actually has a museum on site. The museum on a resort centered area gives the former plantation a strange yet positive twist. Clearly, the people who own the land want to use it for a variety of cultural and economic purposes.
Partially, due to the isolated location, and the fact that plantations are found all over the southern section of the United States the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation is not as popular as some of the other attractions of the area. However, it has one quality with a lot of potential popularity - the Native American mounds on the plantation already attract hundreds of visitors per year. Since such features are relatively rare they could have a large impact on the number of visitors that attend each year.
We're sure that you'll enjoy stopping in to visit. There's plenty of interest for everyone.
