Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies
The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies is located in Banff, Alberta. It was founded by Catharine Robb and Peter Whyte. They are opened year-round but hours do vary. Guided tours are available. They have many exhibits, and always something new!
The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies is a very unique museum with several collections to offer. Their Art Collection has approximately 4,000 pieces of work and is still growing. In order for artwork to qualify, the artist must have lived in the area for one year, worked in the region for multiple years, or used the area as inspiration for the artwork. The Art Collection contains several different types of items including, photographs, drawings, and crafts. The Heritage Collection has recreational items from the past and present. The Heritage Homes is a very unique collection that captures past architectural styles.
Many different programs and events are held at different times of the year. Family, group, and school programs are all available at The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies.
