St. Mary's Submarine Museum is located at 102 St. Mary's Street, Saint Marys, GA, 31558. It is a non-profit organization that houses many pieces of old submarine antiques from the Civil War. It is a great place to learn more about submarine history and specifically the role of submarines in the American Civil War. There are also general pieces of naval history contained at the museum including the USS James K. Polk warship.
The museum features a gift shop that sells submarine-related clothing, pins, books, license plates, and more. Admissions are relatively low with special rates for children and active or retired military personnel, and free for children under 6 years old. The museum is open on Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST and on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM EST. It is important to note that the museum is closed on Mondays. The museum is also closed on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, and the period of time between Christmas and New Year's Day.
