Kennesaw, GA is a charming southern city located around 25 miles Northwest of Atlanta. Named one of the “Best Towns for Families” by Family Circle Magazine in 2007, this city is a great destination for tourists seeking famous southern charm, blended with history and modern attractions.
Founded in the 1800’s, Kennesaw was a hotspot of railroad activity in its early years. Many civil war battles were fought in the area, and only a few buildings and houses remain from the original town. One such home, the Gibson Davis House, is now on display for visitors. One great attraction is known as the Depot. The Depot was recently rebuilt and updated by the city, and contains a variety of artifacts and exhibits related to the town’s history. There is a museum there that showcases story boards that tell the story of the town and focuses on important and interesting events, such as the Great Locomotive Chase for which the town is well known. Kennesaw made history again in the 1980’s, when the town passed a law mandating that every household own a registered gun.
Kennesaw is a town rich with history and charm. A great place to visit, the whole family is welcome in this family friendly town!
