Ecola State Park
Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach, Oregon, is a unique attraction for those who love nature and history. Ecola State Park is one of three parks in Oregon that belong to the collective known as the Lewis and Clark National and State Historical Parks. Ecola was the site of some of Lewis and Clark's most notable adventures, and they notedly admired its incredi
ble beauty. Today, that beauty has been made into a state park so that everyone can enjoy its incredible views and unique geographical features. Ecola State Park features a lush forest, as well as being located on the edge of Cannon Beach. It is this beach that is the location of the mammoth Haystack Rock. This incredible sea stack spans nearly 235 feet, and is a nesting site for many sea birds, as well as a safe haven for many different kinds of sea life. Lewis and Clark weren't the only ones to enjoy its splendor, though—movies such as “The Goonies” and “Point Break” were filmed there, giving the rest of the world a chance to see the park. But it is, of course, even more stunning in real life!
Whether you're looking to connect to the Lewis and Clark expedition, or you want to experience the best of what nature has to offer, Ecola State Park is sure to please.
